IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU! During this project you are asked to submit a
wish about something you would like to learn how to do. I will then try to
make your wish come true by finding a person that knows how to do just that.
The idea is simple - no wish is impossible if only the right helpful person
is found, in order to show you how to do it. IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU! offers a solution that is right in front of us if only we dare to
reach out for it. BOOKMARK
Analogous Hacking # 1, 4000 folders hidden in library books inviting readers to create
and leave a de-liberate message to the person who reads a book after them. BLIKFANG (EYE CATCHER)
In this project invitations were distributed to all households
at Roarsvej - the street of my office. As a gesture towards their neighbours
opposite, and random passers-by, the residents were invited to create an
exhibition in their windows. Whatever they choosed to do, and if they wanted
to participate at all, was totally optional. The outcome could be seen at the
project opening 17th of October 2008.

’IEG’, Zero 1, San Jose, Californien, US 2008 MY FAVOURITE Open Engagement, At the registration counter of the conference "Open Engagement:
Art After Aesthetic Distance" participants were asked to choose &
wear their favourite tag from a selection of 10. The selection represented a
common denominator. The choice of each participant added to the complex
exchange of signals between people at the conference. Wearing the tag brought
a mighty excuse to sneak a peek on, and possible hooking up with fellows in,
or out of, taste. SÅ

Copenhagen 2006/Manchester 2007 and onwards ... Do you have a book that doesn’t belong to you? Then you are invited to use the Book Amnesty Service In a modest way this project aims to allow people to put something
right. The Service provides a mechanism to return borrowed books to whomever
or wherever they came from. This is done by the Book Amnesty Service
returning the books by mail, with an explanation of the service, and an
invitation for the recipient to make use of the service too. The Book Amnesty
Service considers that everyone has a book that doesn’t belong to them and
provides a mechanism to return it with a level of impunity. The Book Amnesty Service came into being during discussions about
books and magazines, and the discovery that some examples were not rightfully
ours. We considered that after a time it becomes impossible to quietly right
the wrong and own up to having something you shouldn’t. Sometimes one feels
justified as the new owner, sometimes the story of acquisition makes the book
more treasured and sometimes we forget, on other occasions we don’t care and
would keep the book no matter what. In most cases the loss or gain of books
is simply absorbed into our flow of possessions, but with this service we
offer you the opportunity to return a book and maybe receive back one you’ve
lent. The Book Amnesty Service will be realised at various locations. Lesley Young & Berit Nørgaard, 2006 HUSKER
DU? (DO YOU REMEMBER?)
Viborg, DK 2006 From September to November 2006 one could come across 45 black &
white plaques different places in Viborg. Each plaque described a site
specific memory connected to the spot of its placement. The stories were
after an open invitation handed in by people connected to Viborg. The
contributors remained anonymous. The plaques contained humorous, serious, sad
& touching memories. BASALE BEHOV (BASIC NEEDS) Rum46, Århus, DK, 2005 In a poetic yet functional way this project aimed to make noticeable
something otherwise invisible. The intention of BASIC NEEDS was to offer the
participants a possibility of communicating one, or several, basic needs to
the surrounding world. BASIC NEEDS invited people to create a key ring from a range of
colourful symbols. Each symbol represented a personal need as for example
‘respect’, ‘excitement’, 'exchange' and ‘love’ The symbol was to be
noticeable worn. Further all participants were offered a review for the use
of reading other participants needs. During the exhibition a similar review
was announced on posters in public space of Århus. AROUND YOU
Café Kiasma, Kiasma In cafés people drink coffee, read, meet with their friends or maybe
just enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by other human beings. The intention of around YOU is to focus on the everyday phenomena of
observing and comparing other peoples' taste and personalities with ones own. The visitors of Café Kiasma were able to choose from a wide selection
of cups and mugs when they took a coffee. Each choice added to the complex
exchange of signals between all café visitors. PROJEKT GENBO (NEIGHBOUR OPPOSITE) In this project a small booklet was distributed to all households in a
narrow street of KUNDE
TIL KUNDE (SHOPPER TO SHOPPER)
Ydre Nørrebro, Copenhagen 2002-03 Shopper to shopper was part of the art project NB! – lad os mødes (NB!
– let’s meet up). Every participating artist was encouraged to produce a
piece for the notice boards in the local supermarkets. My piece - ‘Shopper to
shopper’ - was a rephrased version of the strict standard notice board form.
The standard choices were buying,
selling, swapping, offering and
wanting. With a minor transformation I swapped these with mean, think, feel, believe and other. Every morning during the
exhibition I went to the supermarket and swapped the original forms with
mine.
